You're walking through ancient woodland here, the kind where locals know the trails better than any signpost ever could. The forest itself is the thing - no cafe, no gift shop, no visitor centre promising interpretive panels. Just trees, undergrowth, and the occasional bog underfoot when it's been wet. Bring proper boots.

Walkers will get the most from this, honestly. It's not a quick tick-box sort of place, and families with very small children might find the terrain frustrating. But if you're the type who enjoys a proper ramble without needing facilities, Crannog delivers. The woodland walks are genuinely good, particularly if you're staying at Delamont Country Park just 2.7 miles away - that's your best bet for an overnight base if you want to explore the area properly.
