Dairy Park Copse

A small woodland patch just outside Crewkerne, Dairy Park Copse is the sort of place you'd stumble upon while exploring the quieter corners of Somerset rather than plan a day trip around. The trees are decent enough - mixed woodland with a decent canopy - but it's modest in size and scope. You're talking a 20-minute wander maximum before you've seen what there is to see.

It works best as an add-on to a longer walk through the area rather than a destination in itself. The forest floor is pleasant after rain, and if you're camping at one of the nearby parks like Wytch Wood or Thorney Lakes, it's worth a leg-stretch on an afternoon. Kids won't get much out of it beyond climbing trees and spotting birds, and honestly, the local parks offer better facilities and more space to properly run around.

Access and facilities appear to be basic - this isn't a managed attraction with marked trails or visitor centres. There's no obvious parking information online, and opening hours aren't advertised, which suggests it's a public right-of-way rather than a formal destination. Frankly, it reads more as a local spot than a reason to stay in the area. If you're already based at one of the Somerset caravan parks and fancy a break from campsite life, it'll do. Otherwise, spend your time exploring the Levels themselves or heading to larger woodland further afield.
