The taproom at Delphic Brewing sits in West Berkshire with an unpretentious vibe that actually works. You walk in, grab a stool, and within minutes you're chatting to people who genuinely know their beer. The core draw here is drinking - they make their own craft brews on-site and the range rotates, so there's always something new to try. Nothing fancy, just proper beer made locally.

Weekends are when it really comes alive. Friday afternoons from 4pm tend to be quieter if you want a conversation with the brewers themselves, but Saturday from 11am onwards fills up with the sort of crowd that knows a pale ale from a porter. Sunday afternoon winds down nicely by 5pm, so it's good if you're not after the full evening scene.

It's worth a detour if you're staying at Cherry Bird Country Park or Bishops Green Farm Campsite - both within a few miles - and you want an evening out that doesn't involve a stuffy pub. Kids can come earlier in the day (the place isn't rowdy), though there's not a beer garden to occupy them endlessly. Allow an hour minimum, longer if you're the type to settle in properly.

Newbury is the nearest town if you're combining this with other activities. Admission isn't charged to the taproom, though obviously you're paying for drinks. It's straightforward, friendly, and does exactly what it says on the tin.
