Eoves Wood

Walk into Eoves Wood near Pershore and you're immediately struck by how quiet it gets. The woodland floor is thick with leaf litter, the light filters through in shafts, and there's that particular smell of damp earth and rotting wood that only ancient woodlands have. It's a proper woodland walk rather than a manicured tourist spot - the kind of place where you might actually see something, whether that's a woodpecker or just the satisfying chaos of nature doing its thing.

This works best for walkers and anyone who genuinely enjoys being under trees without needing a visitor centre or a gift shop. Kids who are keen on spotting wildlife will get something out of it; those expecting dramatic views or marked trails might find it a bit underwhelming. There's no obvious infrastructure here, so bring decent boots and don't expect signposting at every turn.

Timing-wise, allow an hour or so depending on how much you want to potter about. Spring brings bluebells if you're lucky; autumn is golden and atmospheric. It's free to access, which is the main appeal - a genuine bit of the Worcestershire countryside without the visitor numbers you'd get at the honeypots.

Stay at one of the nearby parks - Orchard Blossom is barely a mile away, while Plum Tree Glamping's bell tents and wood-fired hot tub are 2.9 miles off if you want something more of an occasion. Bredon-Vale opens year-round if you're flexible on timing. Eoves Wood fits into a proper woodland-walking holiday, best paired with other local walks rather than treated as a destination in itself.
