Fairlight Glen Naturist Beach

Just east of Hastings, where the shale cliffs drop steeply to the pebble shore, Fairlight Glen is one of England's few designated naturist beaches. The setting itself is rather dramatic - high cliffs create a natural screen from the promenade, which means the beach feels properly secluded despite being just minutes from town.

You'll find a mixed crowd here: seasoned naturists, curious first-timers, and the occasional person who's wandered down without realising what they've walked into. The beach is functional rather than fancy - shale underfoot, craggy rocks, the usual English seaside weather. There's no dedicated facilities, though Hastings town centre is close enough for a coffee or chip shop run. Access involves a fairly steep descent down the cliff path, so it's not ideal if mobility is an issue, but the seclusion makes it worth the effort if naturism is your thing.

For a family holiday in the area, it's worth knowing about rather than a must-do. If you're staying at Coghurst Hall or Combe Haven nearby, you're within easy reach, though most family parks won't be your crowd here. The beach works best as a quieter alternative to Hastings' main stretch, particularly if you value privacy over facilities. Go midweek or off-season if you want to avoid the busier summer weekends.
