Fantasy Island sits just outside Skegness and delivers exactly what it promises - a no-nonsense amusement park that won't break the bank. You've got your classic rides, log flumes, dodgems, the works. It's the sort of place where families spend an afternoon rather than an entire day, which is fine because that's how long it really takes to work through everything.

The rides are cheerfully tacky. A wooden roller coaster, spinning teacups, water attractions - nothing ground-breaking, but perfectly adequate for families with younger kids who aren't quite ready for Alton Towers. Teenagers might get bored after two hours, to be honest. The park fills up quickly on sunny weekends, so arrive early if you're going during school holidays.

It works brilliantly as a half-day addition to a Skegness caravan holiday, particularly if you're staying at Skegness Seaview just up the road. Many visitors combine it with the beach or the seafront attractions rather than treating it as a destination on its own. The proximity to the coast is actually the park's greatest asset - you're not traveling far from wherever you're based.

Bring cash for extras like food and arcade games. The place has that genuine seaside park atmosphere - a bit worn at the edges, genuinely family-focused, nothing trying too hard. If you want polish and cutting-edge rides, look elsewhere. If you want a decent couple of hours with reasonable prices and queue times that won't drive you mad, this does the job.
