Ffrith Uchaf

The walk up Ffrith Uchaf rewards you with proper views across the Conwy Valley - the kind of vista that makes you understand why people move to North Wales and never leave. It's not a massive peak by Snowdonia standards, but it's accessible enough that you won't spend half the day grinding uphill, and the summit gives you a real sense of having earned something.

From Betws-y-Coed, the approach is straightforward, and the terrain suits walkers who want a decent outing without needing technical kit or mountain experience. The views back towards the valley settlements are the real draw here - clearer days are obviously better, but even in partial cloud you get a sense of the landscape's scale. Families with teenagers will find it manageable; younger kids might struggle with the duration depending on their legs.

There's no visitor infrastructure on the summit itself - no cafe, no facilities - so come prepared with water and snacks. Allow a couple of hours for a steady ascent and descent, maybe longer if you're not moving quickly. It's free to access, as these Welsh peaks are.
