Foxham Dog Field

The name alone tells you what to expect - a field where dogs can run about freely without a lead in sight. Foxham Dog Field, just outside Chippenham in Wiltshire, is exactly that sort of place: unpretentious, genuinely useful, and the sort of spot you'd never know existed unless someone local tipped you off.

It's a proper off-lead paradise for dogs who need space to burn off energy. There's nothing fancy here - no agility equipment, no cafe, no Instagram-worthy gates. Just open ground where your dog can do what dogs actually want to do: chase, sniff, and socialise with other dogs. The field itself is reasonably sized, so even the bouncier spaniels have room to work with.

If you're staying at one of the nearby caravan parks - The Retreat Glamping, Roe Deer Fields, or Plough Lane just a few miles away - this is genuinely handy. It solves the daily "where am I letting the dog run today" problem without having to drive far. Families with well-behaved dogs will appreciate the straightforward setup. Anyone without a dog, though, won't find much reason to visit.

It's free to use, which is brilliant. No gates, no faffing about with permits. Just rock up and let them loose. Allow twenty minutes to an hour depending on how knackered your dog gets. Go early morning in summer to dodge crowds, though frankly at Foxham you're unlikely to be fighting for space anyway.
