About Foxholes Coppice
What you get here is straightforward: wooded paths, plenty of shade, and the chance to stretch your legs without joining the crowds at more famous spots. Walkers will appreciate the network of trails winding through the coppice. Families with younger kids might manage an hour or so before restlessness kicks in - it's pretty but not dramatic. History types won't find much to grip onto beyond "it's an old wood", but that's not really what this is about.
There's no visitor centre or facilities that I'm aware of, so come prepared. The paths are muddy after rain - properly muddy - so decent boots matter. Autumn's the time to visit if you want colour; summer can feel a bit damp and closed-in under the leaf canopy.
It works best as a morning walk if you're based at one of the local campsites, breaking up a holiday that also includes Dorchester itself or the coast beyond. Not a destination in its own right, but a solid hour or two if you're already in the area and need to get outside.
