Green Bridge of Wales

You'll find the Green Bridge of Wales on the Pembrokeshire coast near Pembroke, and it's properly dramatic when you get there. It's a natural stone arch - a chunk of limestone that's somehow remained standing while the sea's gnawed away at everything around it. The bridge juts out into the water like something left behind by giants, and you can walk right up to it along the clifftop path.

It's a short walk from the car park, maybe ten minutes on decent ground, so families with younger kids can manage it without complaint. The real appeal is the sheer weirdness of the thing - watching waves thunder beneath that ancient arch never gets old. Photographers will camp here for hours waiting for the light to hit right. Walkers treating it as part of a longer coastal route get something properly special; it's one of those spots that makes you understand why people come to Pembrokeshire in the first place.

If you're staying at one of the nearby caravan parks - Parke Farm, King's Mill, or Sky Meadow are all within a few miles - you'd be daft not to swing by. It's free to access and takes up about an hour of your day, maybe two if you're in no rush. Best to go when the tide's out so you can really see the arch's full height. Wind can be vicious up there, so dress properly. On a grey Welsh day with the sea churning, it's moody and compelling. Worth the detour from Pembroke town.
