About Hallow Hill
This is a nature reserve rather than a manicured attraction, which means you'll see actual birds, wildflowers in season, and bits of geology if you're into that sort of thing. Families with kids aged seven upwards will find it manageable, though younger children might need a hand on the steeper bits. The paths are decent enough but can get muddy after rain. Allow an hour return journey if you're not rushing.
If you're staying at Cairnsmill or Craigtoun Meadows - both excellent parks just outside town - Hallow Hill works perfectly as a morning walk before you head into St Andrews proper. You get the exercise sorted, decent views, and you're back in time for lunch. It's not a destination in itself, but it fills a gap nicely between the holiday park and the town centre. Most people won't even know it's there, which is part of the appeal. Free to access, obviously.
