Hambleton Hill

The walk up Hambleton Hill takes about twenty minutes from the car park, and you're rewarded with proper views across the Lincolnshire landscape - nothing dramatic, but on a clear day you can see for miles across the flatlands towards Grantham. It's a modest summit at 418 metres, which means the climb is gentle enough for families with kids who don't fancy a scramble. The hill itself is mostly grassland with a few trees, and there's an Iron Age fort up there if you're into archaeology - the earthworks are still visible if you know what to look for, though they won't blow your mind compared to more famous sites.

Walkers will get the most from this one. It's straightforward terrain, well-trodden paths, and it works brilliantly as a half-day outing rather than an all-day commitment. Bring decent shoes because after rain it gets boggy in places, but that's Lincolnshire for you. There's no café at the top, so pack a flask if you want to linger.

Fitting it into a park holiday makes sense if you're staying at Wagtail Country Park just 1.5 miles away - you could easily combine a morning walk here with time back at the glamping afterwards. It's not a long drive from Witham Grange either if you're based there. Honest assessment: it's a solid leg-stretcher between park time, not a destination in itself. Worth doing once, and the views justify the walk, but don't expect anything to take your breath away.
