Hercules Plantation

Dense woodland trails wind through what was once a grand estate plantation, now returned to semi-wild forest near Market Bosworth. The paths here are proper muddy - bring decent boots if you're planning more than a quick stroll. Ancient oak and beech trees tower overhead, creating a canopy thick enough to make midday feel like dusk.

Families with energetic kids will find plenty to explore, though pushchair users should stick to the main track. The network of smaller paths can get confusing, so it's not the place for a leisurely amble unless you're comfortable with a bit of route-finding. Dog walkers love it here - plenty of space to let them off the lead away from roads.

Expect to spend a good hour or two if you want to see the best bits. The plantation sits conveniently close to several holiday parks around Market Bosworth, making it an easy detour from Bosworth Caravan Park or Mallory Meadows. It's free to wander, though there's precious little in the way of facilities - no visitor centre or cafe to retreat to if the weather turns.

Honestly, it's not spectacular, but it does the job if you're staying locally and need to stretch your legs properly. The silence away from the main paths is rather lovely, and you'll often have whole sections to yourself.
