Leys Hill

Leys Hill rises modestly from the Yorkshire Wolds near Driffield, offering the kind of gentle walking that suits families with younger children or anyone wanting a proper leg stretch without the mountaineering gear.

The climb itself is pleasant rather than challenging, winding through typical Wolds countryside with rolling fields and hedgerows. What you get at the top is a decent view across the agricultural landscape towards the coast, though it's hardly breathtaking. Still, on a clear day you can see for miles, and there's something satisfying about reaching any summit, however humble.

Walkers and dog owners will get the most from this spot, particularly if you're staying at one of the nearby holiday parks like Skirlington Leisure Park or Sea View Country Park. It's an easy afternoon outing that won't wear out the kids, though teenagers might find it a bit tame. The whole circuit takes about an hour if you're dawdling.

Access is free, naturally, and there's no set opening times - it's just countryside. Best tackled in dry weather as the paths can get muddy, and early morning or late afternoon gives you the best light for photos. Worth combining with a visit to Driffield's market if you're making a day of it.
