Little Orme

Standing barely 141 metres high, Little Orme might seem like the Great Orme's underwhelming younger sibling, but this modest limestone headland near Llandudno Junction packs a proper punch for such a small package. The walk to the summit takes about 20 minutes from the Penrhynside approach, winding through gorse and bracken before opening onto surprisingly extensive views across Conwy Bay and the Snowdonia peaks beyond.

Families with older children will find the scramble manageable, though toddlers might struggle with the steeper sections near the top. The real reward isn't just the panorama - on clear days you can spot Anglesey - but the wildflowers that carpet the slopes in spring and early summer. Local dog walkers seem to have claimed this as their patch, so expect company on weekend mornings.

What makes Little Orme worth the detour is its accessibility combined with genuine hill-walking feel. No crowds, no entrance fees, just a decent leg stretch with views that rival much higher peaks. From holiday parks like Dinarth Hall or Tan Y Bryn Glamping, it's an easy morning jaunt before hitting Llandudno's beaches. Allow an hour return trip, longer if you fancy exploring the old quarry workings that scar the eastern face. Best avoided in strong winds - the exposed summit can be properly blustery.
