Llechwedd Melyn

The walk up Llechwedd Melyn rewards you with views across Cardigan Bay that stretch for miles on a clear day. It's not a massive peak - more of a proper hill than a mountain - but that's rather the point. You can do it in under an hour from Borth, which sits at the foot of the climb, making it ideal if you're staying at one of the nearby caravan parks like Cambrian Coast or Searivers and fancy a quick leg-stretch that actually goes somewhere.

The path itself is straightforward enough, though it does get steep toward the top and can be boggy after rain. Bring proper walking boots rather than trainers. What makes it worth the effort is the perspective you get - Borth laid out below, the coast curving away, and on decent weather those Cardigan Bay views that make you understand why people bother with Wales in the first place. The summit's bare enough that you'll want to sit for a bit and actually look around rather than just snap a photo and head back.

It's walker country, this. Families with kids will manage it fine if they're used to hills, though don't expect facilities or a cafe at the top - just space, wind, and views. History types might find it less rewarding than the medieval sites peppered around Ceredigion, but if you're based at Cae Du Campsite or Gwerniago and want to burn off some energy without traveling far, Llechwedd Melyn does the job properly.
