Marros Mountain

Rising 219 metres above the Carmarthenshire countryside, this unassuming summit offers surprisingly decent views across the Pendine Sands coastline on clear days. The walk up isn't particularly taxing - about 45 minutes from the nearest parking spot - though the path can get muddy after rain and there's no clear waymarking once you leave the main track.

Walkers looking for a gentle morning stretch will find it well suited to their needs, though serious hikers might feel a bit underwhelmed by the modest elevation gain. Families with older children should manage fine, but toddlers will struggle with the uneven ground near the top.

What makes it worthwhile is the view west towards Pendine Beach and the Gower Peninsula beyond. On a good day you can spot the Bristol Channel stretching towards Devon. The summit itself is fairly nondescript - just open moorland with a few wind-bent trees.

From Whitland, it's a straightforward drive through typical Welsh farming country to reach the base.
