Maze View

The view from Maze View, just outside Helston, is genuinely one of those stops that rewards you for taking the minor road. You're looking out across proper Cornish countryside - rolling fields, tree lines, and on a clear day the horizon stretches far enough to make you actually pause and look properly.

What you get is exactly what the name promises: a viewpoint. There's no maze, no visitor centre, no facilities to speak of. It's just a spot where someone worked out the sightlines were good and left you to it. The kind of place where you pull in, get out of the car, and either think "brilliant" or "fair enough" depending on what you hoped for.

It works best if you're already exploring the area around Helston rather than making it a destination in itself. Pair it with a walk through the surrounding countryside or as a quick stop between other activities - maybe heading to one of the nearby glamping sites like Stay Wild or The Secret Garden, both of which are within an easy drive. The views are particularly worth catching in late afternoon light when the fields turn golden.

Allow ten minutes, maybe fifteen if you want to sit a while and actually appreciate it. Free, naturally. No fees, no time limits, just a layby and a view. Kids might find it dull unless they're the type who like spotting landmarks, but for walkers or anyone after a genuine moment of quiet countryside, it's well worth the detour.
