The home of St Johnstone Football Club sits just north of Perth, a proper modern stadium that's worth a visit if you're catching a match or fancy seeing where Scottish football gets played at this level. McDiarmid Park opened in 1989 and replaced the club's old ground, so it's got that clean, functional feel of a stadium built to do its job rather than dripping in history.

You'll get the most out of this place if you're a football fan, obviously. Match days bring real atmosphere - Perth's not a huge city, so when St Johnstone are at home it's genuinely the focal point of the area. Non-match visits are possible but you'd need to check if there's a tour available (the club does occasionally run these, though it's worth ringing ahead). The stadium holds about 12,500, so it's intimate enough that you actually feel part of the action rather than a speck in the crowd.

If you're staying at one of the nearby caravan parks - Scone Camping is genuinely excellent and just a short drive away - a match day visit breaks up a holiday nicely.
