Mynydd Dir

You'll spot Mynydd Dir long before you reach it - a sharp-topped peak rising above the coastal plain between Abergele and Conwy that commands proper views across North Wales. The walk itself is straightforward enough, with the main path starting from the lower slopes and climbing steadily to the summit where you get sight lines across to Snowdonia on clear days, plus views down to the coastline and inland across the Vale of Conwy.

It's not a massive undertaking. Most people bag the summit in under an hour from the car park area, which makes it ideal if you're staying at one of the nearby holiday parks - Plas Farm is closest at just over two miles away. The terrain is moorland rather than technical, so it suits families with older kids and casual walkers more than serious hikers seeking a challenge. Bring proper footwear though; it can get boggy in the dips.

Free to access, no visitor centre or facilities at the top, so come prepared with water and something to eat if you want to linger. Spring and early summer work best when the light's clearer, though windier days can whip across the exposed sections. Worth combining with a coastal walk down to Abergele itself if you've got the energy, or pair it with other peak baggers in the area for a fuller day out from The Beach or Bron-y-Wendon caravan parks.
