This National Trust property is centred on an 18th-century house surrounded by proper rolling parkland, but what makes it worth the trip is the grounds themselves: ornamental lakes, woodland walks, and gardens that shift with the seasons. The house tours are good if you're into period interiors and musical history - there's a keyboard collection that's unexpectedly absorbing. But honestly, most visitors come for the parkland, and rightly so. You can wander for a couple of hours without trying hard, and it's the sort of place where you'll actually see people sitting on blankets eating sandwiches rather than rushing between spots.
