🌊 Nolton Haven Beach

The beach at Nolton is one of those Pembrokeshire coves that doesn't announce itself loudly. You park up near the village and walk down a modest path through coastal scrub, and suddenly there it is - a proper crescent of golden sand backed by low cliffs and flanked by rocky outcrops. It's sheltered, which means even when the wind's up elsewhere on the coast, it's reasonably calm here.

The sand is firm and wide at low tide, revealing rock pools that hold small crabs and anemones - kids will happily occupy themselves for hours turning over stones. The water's cold but swimmable in summer, and there's enough space that you don't feel hemmed in even on busy weekends. Walking the shoreline at the tide line, you'll spot interesting geological bits and bits of driftwood worth pocketing.

It's a place for pottering rather than dramatic coastal walks, though you can extend your time by exploring the rocks at either end. Families with younger children will get the most from it because there's no real drama here - no rip currents, no sudden deep drops, no crashing waves to unsettle nervous swimmers. Haverfordwest is the nearest proper town for supplies, though Nolton village itself has a few basics.

The beach is free and accessible year-round. Allow a couple of hours minimum, longer if the kids are digging. If you're staying at Newgale Coast Holiday Park or any of the caravan sites within a mile or two, this is an ideal place to spend a quieter morning while the busier beaches draw the crowds.
