Norton Hill Light Railway

A working narrow-gauge railway museum tucked away east of King's Lynn, Norton Hill Light Railway is one of those places that appeals instantly to anyone with a soft spot for vintage trains. You're looking at restored locomotives and heritage rolling stock set on a proper operational line - the sort of place where you can actually ride the rails rather than just peer at exhibits behind glass.

The railway runs seasonal services, and a trip here works best if you've got kids or you're genuinely into railway heritage. Allow a couple of hours minimum if you're doing a ride, longer if you want to explore the locomotives properly. It's the kind of place that won't hold your attention all day, but as a half-day outing from one of the nearby parks - Heacham Beach or Diglea are closest at just over two miles away - it breaks up a Norfolk holiday nicely.
