A proper woodland walk through Penny Grove feels like stepping back into someone's private estate - all mature trees, mossy paths, and the kind of quiet that makes you forget Dursley's just down the road. It's free to access and takes around an hour if you're wandering without rushing, longer if you fancy sitting about on a fallen trunk like we did. Families with younger kids might find it a bit muddy after rain - there's no obvious trail maintenance - but older walkers and anyone after a proper woods experience will get plenty from it. The nearest town is Dursley, which sits below the Cotswold Edge, so you could easily combine this with a day exploring the wider area. Given the holiday parks scattered around - Tudor Caravan Park and Pepper Pot are both within three miles - it works as a decent half-morning outing if you're staying locally and want to stretch your legs between camp activities. Go early if the weather's been wet; the paths can turn boggy. There's no facilities to speak of, so sort yourself out in Dursley first.
