You won't find signage or visitor centres at Pondclose Copse - it's just a proper woodland walk tucked between Yarmouth and the quieter parts of the island's northwest. Walkers will find it worth a visit, especially those after a gentle hour or so away from the beach crowds. It's manageable for families with older kids who won't mind soft ground and uneven footing, though pushing a buggy here would be frustrating. Bring wellies if it's been wet - the copse holds water. The real appeal is the escape. You're only a couple of miles from Yarmouth's high street, yet it feels genuinely separate. If you're staying at Camp Wight or Tom's Eco Lodge, this sits practically on your doorstep as an easy morning ramble before heading to the beaches at Totland Bay or Colwell. Combine it with a walk through Afton Marsh nearby for a proper half-day of island exploring. Don't expect dramatic vistas or dramatic features - that's not what this is.
