Standing 426 metres above the Welsh coastline, this modest peak offers surprisingly rewarding views across Cardigan Bay and the Llŷn Peninsula. The climb from Porthmadog takes about an hour and a half up a well-defined path, though it gets properly steep in places - proper walking boots are essential.

Families with older children (say 10+) will manage it fine, but anyone expecting a gentle stroll should think again. The final push to the summit is a bit of a slog, but the panorama makes it worthwhile. On a clear day you can spot Bardsey Island and the mountains of Snowdonia stretching inland.
