Riverside Witheram

The Riverside at Witham, just outside Lincoln, is one of those spots you stumble upon rather than plan for. It's a working waterside area where the River Witham actually does something interesting - the water moves, the light changes constantly, and there's genuine activity rather than just a pretty view.

What you're looking at is a proper riverside walk with character. Fishermen turn up regularly, and you'll see narrowboats if you time it right. The path runs alongside the water, and unlike some stretches of English rivers, this one feels lived-in rather than manicured. Bring walking shoes because the ground gets boggy after rain, and the appeal here is in the walking rather than stopping for photos.
