The trees are dense enough to feel like proper countryside despite being this close to town - beech and oak mostly, with a decent canopy that keeps things cool even on warmer days.

It's best suited to anyone who just wants to stretch their legs without faffing about with maps or marked trails. You won't find dramatic viewpoints or woodland drama here. What you get is the chance to walk among decent-sized trees, breathe some fresh air, and maybe spot a few birds if you're quiet enough. Twenty minutes to half an hour covers a decent circuit depending on which way you wander.

Kids might find it a bit samey after a short while unless they're the sort who enjoy poking about in undergrowth looking for interesting sticks.
