Rocky outcrops and golden sand make this a proper Cornish beach experience, tucked away from the crowds that flock to Cornwall's more famous stretches. The walk down from the coastal path gives you your first glimpse of what lies ahead - a relatively small but perfectly formed sandy bay that feels like your own private discovery.

Families with young children will find plenty to keep the little ones occupied, from rock pooling at low tide to building sandcastles on the generous stretch of sand. The beach faces south-east, so it catches the morning sun beautifully but can feel a bit chilly by late afternoon.

Getting there requires a bit of effort - the path down is steep and can be slippery when wet, so probably not one for pushchairs or anyone with mobility issues. But that's precisely why it stays relatively quiet, even in peak summer.

Staying at East Crinnis Holiday Park puts you practically on the doorstep - it's barely a five-minute walk. Par Sands Holiday Park is slightly further but still an easy stroll. The lack of facilities means bringing your own supplies is essential, but that's a small price for having a slice of Cornwall largely to yourself. Best visited at low tide when the beach opens up properly and the rock pools reveal their treasures.
