South Angle Farm Park

The farm sits a few miles east of Ely, working land that's been in the same hands for generations. South Angle Farm Park is one of those places where you get a genuine feel for what Cambridgeshire agriculture actually looks like - not a theme park version, but the real thing. You'll see livestock, seasonal crops, and the rhythms of a proper working farm.

It's best suited to families with younger children and anyone genuinely interested in how food gets produced. School groups come through regularly. Allow two to three hours if you're combining it with a cream tea in Ely town centre. The site itself doesn't demand a full day - you move through at your own pace, and the novelty wears off if you're expecting Disneyland-style attractions.

Admission details aren't always clear online, so ring ahead before you set off. Spring and early summer are the best times - lambing and calving seasons mean there's actually something to see beyond muddy fields. Winter can feel a bit sparse.

If you're based at Trelander or Chittering Park nearby, this makes a decent afternoon break from the caravan. It's close enough not to eat into a full day's travel but far enough to feel like a proper outing. Ely Cathedral is only minutes away, so you could easily loop both into one trip. The Fens around here are a landscape in themselves - wide, open, and quietly beautiful rather than showy.
