Spring Coppice

Spring Coppice is a proper working woodland just outside Brewood, the sort of place locals know about but visitors often miss. It's small - you're looking at a decent walk through mixed woodland, nothing vast or overwhelming. The forest floor is soft underfoot, dotted with bluebells in spring if you time it right, and the paths wind through coppiced woodland that's been managed for centuries. There's water running through it too, which keeps things fresh and means you'll spot wildlife if you're patient.

Walkers will get the most out of this one. It's not a destination attraction where you'll spend half a day, but it makes a cracking addition to a morning's outing in the area - maybe 45 minutes to an hour depending on which route you take. Families with young kids might find it a bit limiting if they're after playground equipment or facilities, though the woodland itself is engaging enough if your children actually enjoy trees and streams rather than manicured paths. History types won't find much here beyond the coppicing itself, which is genuinely interesting if that's your thing.

If you're based at Oakland Holiday Park or High Onn just down the road, Spring Coppice fills a gap between longer walks elsewhere. It's free to access - no visitor centre, no cafe, just woodland. Go early morning or late afternoon when it's quieter, and bring decent footwear because it gets boggy. Don't expect dramatic vistas or anything Instagram-worthy. Just expect a proper bit of Staffordshire woodland doing what it's done for generations.
