A solid medieval church standing just outside Stratford-upon-Avon, St Andrews is the sort of place that rewards a quiet wander if you're already in the area. The building itself dates back centuries, with that particular English church character - solid stonework, decent stained glass, the kind of calm interior that makes you lower your voice without thinking about it.

It's not going to keep you occupied for hours. You're looking at perhaps 20 minutes to half an hour inside, longer if you're genuinely interested in church architecture or the local history plaques. Families with restless kids might find it a bit static, though the churchyard itself can be pleasant for a gentle walk round the graves if the weather's decent.

What makes it work is its location. You're staying at one of the caravan parks nearby - Dodwell Park is barely a mile away, or Rayford if you're slightly further out - and you want to get a proper sense of the actual Warwickshire beyond Shakespeare's gift shop. This delivers that. It's the real village church, doing what it's done for centuries, without any of the performance.

Go on a weekday morning if you can. Parking's straightforward, and there won't be crowds. Check opening times locally before you visit - these parish churches can keep odd hours - but most open during reasonable daylight hours. Free entry, obviously. Worth 20 minutes of your time if you're walking in the area; don't make a special trip.
