St Cadix's Priory

Scattered stones and crumbling walls mark what remains of this medieval priory, tucked away in the Cornish countryside near St Veep. The ruins aren't exactly spectacular - don't expect towering abbey walls or intact arches - but there's something quietly atmospheric about wandering through what's left of this religious community that once thrived here centuries ago.

History buffs will get the most from a visit, particularly those who enjoy piecing together stories from fragmentary remains. The site gives you a sense of how isolated these religious houses were, far from the main population centres.
