You can walk right up to the structure. It's free, always accessible, and honestly quite moving in a desolate sort of way. The stone is weathered smooth, the interior open to the elements. On a grey afternoon with the wind coming off the water, it feels properly haunting. History types will appreciate the weight of what happened here - a thriving medieval settlement reduced to archaeological scraps. Kids might find it eerie rather than fun, and there's not much to occupy them beyond twenty minutes of poking about.

Allow an hour if you're combining it with a coastal walk. The nearest proper town is Saxmundham, about three miles inland. Several caravan parks sit within easy reach - Cliff House Holiday Park is closest at just over a mile away, while Beach View and Boundary Farm Glamping offer more comfort options at around five miles. The site itself demands respect more than entertainment. Go for the atmosphere and the story it tells about landscape and loss, not for facilities or interactive displays. There aren't any.
