St. Mary's Church - Foy

The churchyard sits quietly on a gentle rise above the village of Foy, just south of Hereford, with the kind of view that makes you understand why people built here centuries ago. St. Mary's is a proper medieval church - bit rough around the edges in places, but that's part of its charm. You're looking at a 12th-century structure that's been added to and patched up over the centuries, which tells you something about how long it's been part of this community.

Inside, there's decent medieval stonework and the sort of peaceful atmosphere you only get in churches that aren't on the tourist trail. The churchyard itself is the real draw for most visitors - it's a cracking spot for a wander, especially if you're doing the rounds of Herefordshire's smaller churches. Won't take more than 20 minutes to look around properly unless you're really into medieval architecture.

This works well if you're based at one of the nearby glamping spots like White House on Wye or Caplor - close enough for a morning visit without any faffing about. History enthusiasts will get something out of it; families with restless kids might find it a bit slight on its own. Best visited as part of a broader church-spotting day around the Wye Valley rather than as a destination in itself. The surrounding countryside is pleasant enough for a short walk afterwards if the weather's decent.
