St Peter & St Paul Church Rock

St Peter & St Paul Church Rock is exactly what it sounds like - a proper medieval church that's been carved partly into and built around a massive sandstone rock formation. The structure itself is small and intimate, with that particular damp-stone smell that takes you straight back centuries.

Sections of the building have been hewn directly from the rock face, which means you're essentially standing inside a hybrid of natural cavern and human craftsmanship. The chancel sits embedded in the stone in a way that feels properly strange and compelling.
