This isn't some manicured woodland walk - it's a proper forest in Shropshire where trees have genuinely fallen and stayed fallen, creating the sort of landscape that looks like it belongs in a fairytale or, depending on your mood, a horror film.

You're walking through genuine native woodland here, the kind of place where you half-expect to spot a deer or stumble upon something ancient. The fallen timber everywhere gives it character - children absolutely love clambering over logs and building hideouts, though parents should watch for unstable branches. The canopy keeps things green and cool even in summer heat.

There's no formal entrance, no car park, no visitor centre - you just turn up. From Bridgnorth, it's a short drive, and once you're in the forest it feels a world away. Allow a couple of hours for a decent explore, longer if you've got kids who treat every fallen tree as an adventure playground. It's free, as far as I can tell, though I'd recommend going after rain when the light filters through the wet leaves properly.
