Summerhouse Bank

Standing at 161 metres, this modest Cheshire hill offers surprisingly good views across the surrounding countryside without the leg-burning climb you'd expect from a proper peak. The walk up from the nearby lanes is gentle enough for families with young children, though the pathways can get muddy after rain.

From the top, you'll get decent views towards Northwich and across to the Pennines on a clear day. It's not spectacular - this is hardly Snowdon - but it's a pleasant spot for a picnic if you're staying nearby. The summit itself is fairly unremarkable, just open grassland with a few scattered trees.

Walkers will appreciate it as part of a longer ramble through the Cheshire countryside, and it works well as a quick leg-stretch if you're based at one of the holiday parks around Delamere. Families staying at Wild Shore Delamere or Delamere Lake Sailing & Holiday Park will find it's an easy afternoon outing that won't exhaust the kids.

Allow about an hour return from the nearest parking, though keen walkers could easily link it with other local footpaths for a longer day out. Best avoided in wet weather unless you fancy trudging through sticky Cheshire clay.
