If you're into painting, sculpture, or whatever's on when you visit, you'll find it engaging. Kids might get restless unless they're already keen on galleries - it's not a hands-on experience kind of place.

Okehampton's a decent base for the area anyway. If you're staying at Wolf Wood Treehouses just down the road - absolutely cracking spot, that - the Sundial makes for an easy half-hour wander into town. Lydford Caravan Park's slightly further out but still within easy reach if you fancy a cultural break between outdoor pursuits.

Big caveat: I'd ring ahead about current exhibitions and opening hours, because this kind of independent gallery can be a bit fluid with its schedule. Nothing worse than driving in expecting to find a show and finding the doors closed. But if the timing works, it's worth twenty minutes of your day.
