Tattershall Farm Park

The working farm sits just south of Lincoln, near the village of Tattershall, and it's the kind of place that makes sense if you've got young children in tow during a caravan holiday. You can get up close to farm animals - sheep, goats, the usual suspects - and there's typically opportunity to help with basic tasks depending on the season. It's hands-on rather than fancy, which is either exactly what you want or not at all what you want.

The appeal is straightforward: kids can feed animals, learn how a real farm operates, and burn off energy without you having to drive far. It works particularly well if you're staying at one of the nearby parks - Willow Holt is barely a mile away, and Tattershall Lakes Country Park is just over a mile, making it an easy morning or afternoon outing. Families with under-tens will get the most from it. Teenagers and non-child visitors will likely find an hour is plenty.

I'd allow a couple of hours maximum. Opening hours and admission charges vary seasonally, so ring ahead before you plan your visit - it's not the sort of attraction that operates year-round. It's genuinely useful as a half-day activity rather than a main event, which is fine if you're building a broader Lincolnshire break around the area's lakes and countryside. Not spectacular, but practical.
