The Bridgford Stand

The Bridgford Stand is the old cricket pavilion at Trent Bridge, Nottingham's famous cricket ground, and it's genuinely worth a look if you're in the area. Built in 1886, it's one of the oldest cricket structures still in use, all Victorian ironwork and red brick charm looking out over the ground where Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club has played for over a century and a half.

You can visit as part of a ground tour when there's no match on - the staff know their stuff and will walk you through the pavilion's history, the viewing areas, and the ground itself. It's the sort of place that makes sense if you're already interested in cricket or architectural history. Casual visitors might find thirty minutes enough; proper enthusiasts could easily spend two hours.

Trent Bridge sits right on the edge of Nottingham city centre, barely a fifteen-minute walk from the town itself. If you're camping at Holme Pierrepont Campsite or the Caravan Park and Campsite - both just over a mile away - you're perfectly positioned for a morning visit before heading into Nottingham proper or exploring the River Trent's path through the city.

Check the Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club website before you go, as tours aren't available on match days and opening times shift seasonally. Free admission on match days if you're watching the cricket; tours when available are usually a modest fee. It's not a day's outing by itself, but it slots nicely into a Nottingham weekend.
