The Knave

Scrambling up the rocky outcrop known as The Knave rewards you with sweeping views across Three Cliffs Bay and the Gower Peninsula beyond. This jagged limestone stack rises dramatically from the clifftop, offering one of the most spectacular vantage points on this stretch of the South Wales coast.

The climb itself is half the appeal. It's a proper scramble rather than a gentle stroll - you'll need decent grip on your shoes and a head for heights. Children who are confident climbers will love the adventure, though parents of toddlers might want to stick to admiring it from below.

From the summit, the view takes in the famous Three Cliffs Bay to the east and Oxwich Bay stretching west. On a clear day, you can see right across the Bristol Channel. The perspective over the sweeping sands and the castle ruins below is worth every awkward step up the rock face.

Timing matters here. Early morning or late afternoon light transforms the scene, casting long shadows across the bay. Come at midday and you'll get the views but miss the magic.

If you're staying at one of the nearby parks like Pitton Cross or Newpark Holiday Park, The Knave makes for a cracking half-day adventure. Allow an hour for the climb and plenty of time to soak up those views - you won't want to rush back down.
