The Lawley

Climbing this grassy hill just outside Willstone rewards you with some of the finest views across the Shropshire Hills. The Lawley sits at a proper height - not too taxing a walk but high enough to make the effort worthwhile. On a clear day, you can see right across to the Long Mynd and beyond.

Walkers and families with older children will get the most from this spot. The path up isn't particularly challenging, though it does get a bit steep towards the summit. Allow about an hour for the round trip, including time to catch your breath and actually enjoy the panorama.

What makes The Lawley special is how it sits apart from the main ridge, giving you that lovely sense of being on an island looking out over rolling countryside. It's free to access, naturally, and best visited on one of those crisp, clear days when the light picks out every fold in the landscape.
