Three Fingers Rock

Standing like a giant's hand thrust from the Shropshire hills, this distinctive rocky outcrop earns its name from three prominent stone fingers that jut skyward from the summit. The climb up from Willstone is proper steep in places, but the views across the Long Mynd and Stiperstones more than justify the effort. On clear days you can see right across into Wales.

Walkers and scramblers will love this one - there's a decent path most of the way, though the final approach requires a bit of hands-on scrambling over loose rock. Not one for toddlers or anyone unsteady on their feet. The rock formations themselves are fascinating, carved by centuries of wind and weather into these dramatic spires that photographers can't resist.

Allow a good two hours return from the nearest parking, longer if you're stopping for photos or picnics. Weather can turn quickly up here, so pack layers even on sunny days. The peak sits roughly between Church Stretton and the Welsh border, making it a cracking addition to a Shropshire hills holiday. Several campsites dot the area, including Mountain Edge and Stoney Acres, both within reasonable driving distance for those wanting to explore the wider hills without the daily commute from town.
