Thornley Woodlands Café

The café sits tucked into proper woodland just outside Stanley, where the trees do most of the heavy lifting atmosphere-wise. It's not fancy - order at the counter, grab a seat inside or out on the terrace if the weather's playing ball, and watch the forest do its thing while you eat. The coffee's decent enough, the cakes are homemade, and there's a real sense of locals knowing the place well.

Walkers come here as a pit stop on longer routes through the woodlands, which makes it a clever spot to break up a morning's rambling. The surrounding paths are genuinely lovely - proper tree-lined trails rather than manicured park routes - so you could easily string together a couple of hours of wandering before or after. It's the kind of place where twenty minutes turns into forty because you can't quite bring yourself to leave.
