Tinker's Hill

Standing at just over 300 metres, this modest peak in the Malvern Hills offers surprisingly good views across the Severn Valley without the crowds that swarm the main summits. The walk up from Malvern takes about 45 minutes on well-marked footpaths, though it's a proper climb that'll get your heart pumping.

Families with older children will manage fine, but toddlers might struggle with the steeper sections. The reward at the top is worth it though - on clear days you can see right across to the Welsh hills, and the patchwork of Worcestershire fields spreads out below like a proper postcard view.

What makes Tinker's Hill special is its relative peace. While tourists flock to the Worcestershire Beacon and North Hill, this spot stays refreshingly quiet. You'll often have the summit to yourself, especially on weekday mornings.

It's free to access year-round, naturally, and takes about two hours return from central Malvern. Spring brings lovely wildflowers along the route, though avoid it in thick fog when the paths get tricky to follow.
