Traeth Stadium

Traeth Stadium is the home of Porthmadog Football Club, a proper little Welsh football ground that sits just outside this charming coastal town in Gwynedd. It's nothing fancy - a small, traditional ground where you'll see local league football played with genuine passion rather than Premier League polish. The ground has real character, the kind of place where you can still chat to stewards and fellow fans without fighting through crowds.

If you're a football supporter or just fancy catching some authentic Welsh league action, it's worth knowing the fixture list before you visit. The atmosphere on match days is genuinely good - locals turning out to support their team, proper community football. Non-match days it's less of a draw unless you're already interested in the club's history.

The real strength of Traeth is its location. Porthmadog itself is a working harbour town with character - plenty of cafes, fish and chips shops, and access to Snowdonia proper. You're brilliantly placed for caravan holidays too. Tyddyn Llwyn is barely a mile away, and Haven Greenacres even closer if you want a bigger site with more facilities. Black Rock Sands Touring Park is just three miles down the coast and genuinely worth considering - the beach there is exceptional.

For families, a match day can be fun if the kids are into football, though it won't occupy a full day. Better to combine it with exploring Porthmadog's waterfront or pushing into Snowdonia for walks. Not a destination in itself, but a solid bonus if you're staying nearby.
