Triangle Wood

Triangle Wood sits just outside Campbeltown on the Kintyre Peninsula, a proper little forest that punches above its weight for a quick woodland walk. The trees are dense enough to feel like you've stepped away from everything, even though you're barely ten minutes from town. It's the sort of place where you can stretch your legs for half an hour or settle in for a longer ramble if the mood takes you.

Walkers will find the most value here - the woodland trails are straightforward and well-trodden, making it ideal for families with kids who want to burn off some energy without needing a full day's expedition. You're looking at maybe 45 minutes to an hour for a decent loop, depending on which path you take. There's something quite meditative about it, especially on quieter weekdays when you might have the place largely to yourself.

The location makes it a natural fit for a Kintyre holiday. If you're staying at Carradale Bay Holiday Park just down the road, Triangle Wood works perfectly as a morning activity before heading to the coast. Kings Caves Glamping is only six miles away as well, so it's within easy reach if you're based there. Worth noting: there's no visitor centre or facilities to speak of, so go with sensible footwear and don't expect refreshments. On a decent day it's absolutely worth the detour. On a drizzly Argyll afternoon, it's still pleasant enough, though you'll want proper waterproofs.
