Verwood Library is the sort of place you'd pop into on a rainy afternoon when the New Forest has worn you out. It's a proper community library just outside Ringwood in Dorset, the kind that locals actually use rather than somewhere tourists flock to for Instagram shots. You'll find the usual mix - fiction, non-fiction, a small children's section, computers for browsing. Not exactly thrilling, but genuinely useful if you're staying at one of the nearby caravan parks like Ashley Heath or Forest Edge and need to kill an hour without spending money.

Really, this is a practical stop rather than a destination. Anyone with young kids on a wet day might appreciate the children's books section. Walkers passing through Ringwood could grab a local history title or two. The staff tend to know the area well, so they're worth asking for recommendations on walking routes or what's worth visiting nearby.

The library is free to use and you don't need to be local to pop in and have a look around. Opening hours are standard weekday-evening and Saturday morning stuff, though you'd want to check ahead - library hours shift seasonally and I'd hate for you to drive over and find it shut. If you're based at one of the Forest Edge or Oakdene parks for a week, you could use it as your rainy-day refuge. But don't make a special trip. It's the sort of place that's brilliant when you need it and completely forgettable when you don't.
