Walkies Dog Field

Off the beaten track near Mells, Walkies Dog Field is exactly what it sounds like - a proper open space where dogs can run about without a lead and actually have the room to do it. You won't find manicured paths or fancy signage here. It's just good honest ground for letting your spaniel or terrier burn off some energy before they drive you up the wall in the car.

The field itself sits nicely in the Somerset countryside, which means decent views across the hills if you're not too busy chasing after your labradoodle. It's the kind of place where you might spend twenty minutes to an hour depending on how knackered your dog gets - or how many other dogs turn up for a meet-up. Some folk come with intention, others stumble upon it while exploring the lanes around Mells.

If you're staying at Glamping on the Hill or Cathedral View Glamping, both just up the road, this is genuinely useful. You get a place to tire the dogs out properly rather than patrolling the same tight circle near your accommodation. Neither location is far enough away that it's not worth the drive.

Worth the detour? Only if you've got dogs. If you haven't, there's nothing to keep you occupied. It's functional rather than scenic, practical rather than picture-postcard. But if you're holidaying with pets and need somewhere they can actually be dogs without leads, it's worth knowing about.
